About the Artist

My name is Elizabeth Akenhead and I am a professional photographer. My career started more than 10 years ago working in commercial, product, and print advertising photography.  Presently I focus on children’s photography but occasionally as time permits take on some commercial assignments.

I have a wonderful husband (my biggest supporter & fan!!) and three beautiful daughters with my youngest born in July 2009.  Four years ago we found home on a small farm in the outskirts of Roanoke where we have a menagerie of four legged furry  friends whom we adore. We are avid Jeep lovers and you can often find us 4-wheeling with an off road club.

Although my focus is in photographing pregnancy, births, & babies I also love photographing older children and families. My husband and daughters are always an insperation for me. As a mother, I know how important it is to document this special and very fleeting time—childhood, in a beautiful, unique, and artistic way so that you can cherish the memories for a lifetime.

I currently have images on display at two locations in Roanoke, VA. One at the Wildflour Café in Towers Mall and the other at On The Rise Bakery on Market St. Downtown.
